The short version
Crayon Club keeps your family’s data on your device and in your own iCloud. There are no accounts with us, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. We never see your children’s names, pictures or anything they tap.
What is saved, and where
Each child’s made-up name and animal, what they tick off and colour, and the lists and routines you write. On an iPhone or iPad this is saved on the device and in your own iCloud, in a private area only this app can use, so it is on every device signed into your Apple ID. It is stored by Apple under your iCloud account; Crayon Club has no server and no way to read it. Settings stay on each device. If you choose not to use iCloud, everything stays on this device only. In the web version everything stays in your browser only.
“Erase every child and picture” in Grown-ups removes it from this device and from your iCloud. You can also remove it in your iPhone’s Settings under iCloud storage.
Unlocking Crayon Club
The one purchase, Unlock everything, is made through Apple and checked by your iPhone or iPad with Apple directly. No other company is involved. Apple tells us how many people bought it, never who.
Notifications
If you switch them on, weekly notes are scheduled on this device by the app itself. No notification service is used and nothing is sent to us to make them work.
Reading aloud, screen time and printing
If you switch on reading aloud, an iPhone or iPad speaks the words in its own voice. In a web browser the browser’s built-in voices are used, and some browsers make those voices online. Screen time is counted on this device only, for the daily limit you choose; it is never sent anywhere. Printing and sharing a finished picture happen on your device, to the printer or app you choose; nothing is sent to us.
Snap the room
If a grown-up uses “Snap the room”, the photo is looked at on the device itself — in the app by Apple’s built-in image recognition, on the website by a recogniser downloaded from our own site — and deleted as soon as the tidy-up list is suggested. It is never saved, never uploaded and never seen by us.
Children
Crayon Club is made for children and collects no personal information from them. Anything that involves money or a link out of the app sits behind a grown-ups check.
Your rights
We hold no personal data about you or your children, so there is nothing for us to show you, correct or delete — it is all on your devices and in your iCloud, where you can see and erase it yourself. You can still contact us with any question, and you have the right to complain to a data protection authority, such as the one where you live or the Bavarian authority (BayLDA).
